Hi Tisha,

Storage areas are prone to piling up and being cluttered, so rest assured, you are not alone.

Organizing storage areas is my favorite, aside from organizing kitchens. My clients are amazed once I get their garage, attic or basement organized. I make sure to take before and after photos for them to keep. I think it helps them to keep it organized.

When organizing storage areas, storage cabinets, storage containers, peg boards and hooks, and shelving units come in handy. Before you choose what storage supplies you will need, first you have to sort through the stuff throwing away junk, relocating things that should be somewhere else and giving away stuff you don't need or designating it for a garage sale.

I recommend setting aside at least two days (if not more) to organize each storage area. You will benefit from reading my articles on organizing a garage and my answer to how to organize attic storage.

Don't forget the before and after photos. You will love to show them your friends when they ask how you keep things so organized!
