Need Organizing Help for Three Boys in One Room

by Margarita
(Mexico)

I have my three boys in one bedroom. The room is fairly spacious since it is the master bedroom, but with three beds, clothes for three and lots of toys--the space is a bit tight. The boys being in the same room is a necessity
due to the size of our home.

It seemed more reasonable to give them the bigger room and my husband and I have the smaller bedroom. It would be great to have some ideas about giving them each a little sense of privacy and a way to store clothing especially out of season.

I have two dressers in the closet for socks etc. and other folded clothes--each child has his own space for hanging clothes, but it's still a challenge. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

From,
Margarita

3 Boys in 1 Room - What a challenge!
by: The Organizer

Hi Margarita,

I definitely know how challenging it is to fit several kids in one room and make them comfortable with it. Bunk beds with built in drawers are the best space saving creation ever made. If that isn't an option, you may want to look for under-the-bed storage units for them to keep their personal stuff in. That will help to create a sense of space and privacy.

If it will fit in the room, you might try using a tall bookcase with cubby type storage baskets to keep small toys, books, etc. in. Personal bulletin boards placed on the wall near their bed would give them some personal room for them to post their artwork and other important things on.

You might be interested in reading the web page about organizing kids stuff and my answer to the question about organizing a room shared by two girls. I'm sure you'll find it enlightening.
